The People's Photocopier

The People's Photocopier

A photocopier sits next to a table with zine-making supplies.

We are dedicated to keeping the cost of copies low and providing an alternative to corporate copy shops. Corporate media and publishing continue to concentrate and streamline the power of communication. As amateurs, non-professionals, artists, writers and activists of all kinds, we need to collectively fight for the ability to self-publish our zines and posters, to promote our events, to spread our word.

We have a brand new photocopier available to the community to make low-cost copies. It can print black-and-white and in colour, can do double-sided and scanning, and can print on letter, legal, and tabloid size paper.  The model is Bizhub C251I if you want to research its functions.

Location and open hours

Located at Radstorm/Anchor Archive, our photocopier is available for anyone to use for any project. It is accessible to the public on Sundays and Tuesdays during Anchor Archive open hours and when Radstorm is open for events.

Black and white printer and scanner

  • 8.5 x 11 and 8.5 x 14 - $0.05 per copy (if double sided, that counts as 2 copies)
  • Works slowly
  • Prints single sided only. For double sided you will have to feed your jobs through twice (so twice the expense)
  • Print off USB or the Radstorm computer and network
    * cost: five cents per side

Black and white copies

  • 8.5 x 11 and 8.5 x 14 - $0.08 per copy (if double sided, that counts as 2 copies)
  • 11 X 17 - $0.10 per page

Colour copies

  • 8.5 x 11 and 8.5 x 14 - $0.20 per page
  • 11 X 17 - $0.30 per page

Paper

White paper is included in the cost of copies. If you bring your own paper you can save $0.02 per copy.

There is always white paper available and usually a box of random coloured paper. But if you want specific coloured paper for your copies, please bring your own paper.

We aim to use 100% recycled paper.

Paying for copies

You can use a worksheet to keep track of how many copies you made and then send an e-transfer to anchorarchive@gmail.com or leave cash in a labelled envelope in the cash drop box- mounted on the wall between the kitchen and the bathroom! You can press the Copy Count button on the photocopier screen before you start making your copies and write down the starting count, then press it again when you're finished and check to the number to easily keep track of your copies.

Please remember to pay for your copies, as this allows us to keep copy prices low. Pay-what-you-can arrangements are also available. Please contact us to inquire.
